Pili is from Barcelona, the most cosmopolitan city in Spain, her mother tongues are both Spanish and Catalan. She speaks very good English too as she lives in New Zealand, and has basic knowledge of French.
Pili is a certified Spanish teacher as a foreign language (ELE) from International House Barcelona (school recognised by Cervantes Institute and Barcelona University) since 2012, earlier in 2008 she graduated in advertising and public relations. In 2012, After 5 years working in advertising agencies around Barcelona, she moved to Budapest to work for international communication projects. While being there she started teaching Spanish to some international colleagues in reduced groups and she kept some of them over skype after she left Budapest.
She has experience teaching people from different nationalities and that made her recognize which things are easier or more difficult to pick from the Spanish language depending on which is your mother tongue. So she plays her little tricks to make your learning easier and match it with your interests so the lessons are even more interesting. For Pili is all about communication, switching from an advertising career to the language teaching just brings communication to a more basic and personal level.
Since 2014, she also teaches surfing in New Zealand, mainly to kids and she is aiming to combine the surfing and the Spanish learning under the same program. Pili’s interests include travelling to enjoy nature and the ocean, discover new cultures and take pictures. She is also an avid reader who enjoys yoga, gardening, cooking and of course eating. Her next challenge is to learn how to speak Maori.
