If you are taking your Spanish course online and youre thinking that you need to add some challenges, youre probably right If youre thinking that one way of doing that is by watching Spanish language movies, youre right as well!

So here are a few movies that are not only highly acclaimed in movie history but that can also help you improve your Spanish skills.

Lauberge Espagnole (2002), Cédric Klapisch

We start off with a French movie that sets most of its action in Spain. It tells the story of Xavier (Romain Duris), a young man who decides to enjoy his Erasmus experience in Barcelona.

Although more than five different languages are spoken during the entire movie, a great part of it is in Spanish. It is also a great reflection of living abroad as the main character considers his journey through this new language, city and culture.

Todo sobre Mi Madre (1999), Pedro Almodóvar

This list had to have an Almodóvar! Even if some consider Habla con Ella to be his masterpiece, it was with this Oscar for Best Foreign Film Winner that the world was introduced to the now revered director. Everything about My Mother is a movie ahead of its time because it talks about HIV, Trans People and Religion in a way no one had seen at the time.

Amores Perros (2000), Alejandro González Iñárritu

Considered to be the Mexican Pulp Fiction, this movie is responsible for sending Gael García Bernal into stardom and its the first instalment of a trilogy (it is followed by 21 Grams and Babel).

If you are reading to take this blended learning method into the next level, do not fear this Mexican-Spanish spoken fast paced movie.

Y tu Mamá También (2001), Alfonso Cuarón
